Visitant #1 is a series dedicated to my father. The series of drawings and hand-pulled prints illustrate universal concepts of loss, grief, and healing. Much of the imagery is pulled from folklore of butterflies, their symbolic connection to death and the afterlife, and their unique metamorphosis. Each design is developed from imagery of butterflies, microscopic images of cancer cells, and memories from the artist. The artworks are often woodburned into patterns to enhance the fragility of grief and continuous attempts at preserving memories.
